Nukkad Natak/Street Plays

Nukkad Natak (Street theatre) has been traditional part of election campaign since the beginning of democratic process in India and still has not lost its significance.

Nukkad Natak is a theatrical performance and presentation done at outdoor public spaces without a specific paying audience. The places we choose for performance can be anywhere including street, market, street corners or any shopping centres. Performance artists with an interest in social activism choose to do this work on the street as a means of directly confronting or engaging the public.

Our team of artist is politically neutral and use street theatre to combine performance with the real message for audience which motivate them to vote accordingly.

At first the objective is defined for the Nukkad Natak, then the story plot is decided, dialogues are written and then the role is assign to the artists. These artists do practice, before final performance and then final Nukkad Natak is performed at decided venue.

In the plot we create a story that connect with the masses and influence them in making and/or changing their opinion. The story plot could have message for awareness, a satire on opposition or the policy of government, corruption. It may promote the social welfare work done by the candidate.
